MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Dozens of Mid-South families said goodbye to members of the Mississippi Army National Guard, who left for a year-long mission overseas.
They flew out of Memphis International Airport early Wednesday morning.
The 2nd Battalion, 185th Regiment is based out of Southaven, MS.
The regiment will spend one year in Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
They're headed to Fort Hood, Texas for training, then will deploy to Kuwait.
The Patriot Guard Riders participated in Wednesday morning's send-off by providing a U.S. flag line as the troops departed.
