MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Two bullets remain lodged in a Memphis man's body following a terrifying attack. Police say he was ambushed while walking home from an ATM.
"It just makes me just so sad," said victim Robert Harmon.
Three gunshot wounds are painful reminders of the robbery attempt.
"I hope that whoever did this will take a look and say, 'Wow, this really wasn't necessary,'" said Harmon.
WMC Action News 5 was on the scene early Tuesday morning shortly after Memphis police responded to the shooting. It happened near Dawn Avenue and Frayser Boulevard.
Harmon had just withdrawn money from an ATM inside a nearby convenience store. Harmon was ambushed less than 100 yards from his home.
"I put a hood on and didn't know my surroundings and wasn't watching," said Harmon. "And he was, he was able to really, really hurt me."
Harmon suspects the gunman may have seen him at the store. He recalls at least two of the shots came when he refused to hand over his cash.
"There was blood from where it happened all the way down here," said Harmon.
Harmon hopes doctors are able to remove two bullets still lodged in his body and that his shooter is removed from the streets.
"There are some people who don't want to transform to what's proper," said Harmon. "And, unfortunately, I had to take the wrath of it."
Harmon believes the gunman and a getaway driver left the area in a Buick sedan. Call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH with any information.
