MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Former University of Memphis Running Back DeAngelo Williams is one of 5 former Tigers inducted into the school's M Club Hall of Fame Friday night.
DeAngelo is the Tigers All-Time career rushing leader with 6,026 rushing yards, which is 4th best ever in NCAA history.
He owns the NCAA Record with 34 100-yard rushing games and was a First Team All-American in 2005."I really appreciate the opportunity of first being here, and the opportunity Memphis gave me to help that program be successful," said Williams. "And I owe everything to Memphis, for them to induct me into the Hall of Fame, I feel like I need to induct them into the Hall of Fame, meaning the University of Memphis and everything that came with it."
A first round NFL pick, Williams has played his entire pro career with the Carolina Panthers. He's the Panthers all-time rushing leader in yards, attempts and touchdowns. Also inducted tonight, pitcher Andy Cook, soccer star Andy Metcalf, and Track and Field's David Topham.
