MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Friends and family members of a murdered Germantown mother and teacher are looking to the future knowing her killer will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
On Saturday, four women and eight men found Chris Jones guilty of killing his estranged wife, Heather Palumbo Jones, in 2013.
The prosecution called 27 witnesses and had jurors watch hours of interviews Jones did with the media and police when his wife disappeared.
For Heather's friends, this ruling means they can finally move forward with their lives.
"It was the culmination of the last two years of wondering what was going to happen to him," said Joanna Young.
Despite the guilty verdict, Jones' time is court is not over. Jones will appear for a sentencing hearing related to his conviction on "abuse of a corpse" on March 11.
No matter what is decided at that hearing, Jones will spend the rest of his life in prison.
"Finally, finally. After all the lies and everything he tried to pull over people," Young added.
