TBI: Former jailer lied about threat related to Holly Bobo case

MADISON COUNTY, TN (WMC) - Agents from Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) obtained an indictment for former Chester County jailer Tommy Joe Austin. Austin is accused of filing a false report.

TBI agents began investigating Austin a few days after he filed a report with Madison County Sheriff's Office saying he received a threatening phone call. He said the person on the phone threatened him and his son for not "taking care" of Zach Adams. Adams is a defendant in the Holly Bobo case.

TBI agents determined Austin lied about the threat.

On Feb. 2, a Madison County Grand Jury returned an indictment for Austin, charging him with one count of filing a false report. He turned himself in to a TBI agent at the Madison County Jail.

Austin's bond amount is not known.
