MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The mother of a robbery victim found out her son's last words and thanked a local minister for being there for her son before he died.
Lois Burns' son, Billy McCaine, was killed during a
"This boy opened fire on my son," says Burns.
Police say, the victim was targeted because he was in possession of a large amount of money.
"I was told he was shot in the heart and he was," says Burns.
As McCaine was on the ground, Minister Anna Mae Hester, who was leaving the store, says she heard his screams. She says she grabbed a blanket from her car.
"I wrapped it all around him," says Hester.
She says as they waited on an ambulance she asked Billy one question: Do you believe in God?
"Everything I have done in life, Lord, will you please forgive me," she says McCaine prayed and then she says he asked the minster to call his mother.
"My son, he didn't die alone," says Burns. Police arrested 17-year-old Dewaun Dorse. He is charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Jessica Dorse is charged with being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. Investigators say Jessica lied to police.
