MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis City Council will provide $2 million to help fund summer jobs for teens.
Mayor A C Wharton hopes business leaders will step up and provide the jobs needed for 1,000 Memphis teens to earn work experience.
With businesses providing the jobs, the city will use the $2 million to pay the 1,000 teens who sign up.
This plan is set to take place this summer. WMC Action News 5 will let you know as soon as we learn how teens can sign up for the program.
Many council members hope this program will become something Memphis does every year.
