MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Many people are bracing for a chance of wintry weather. Road crews were busy at work all day Friday, treating roads and bridges with salt brine making sure drivers are safe.

Tate Wilson is like many people all across the Mid-South bracing for the chance of wintry weather as early as Sunday night.

"I'm going to stay inside and light a fire I think," said Wilson.

Emergency officials are urging residents to be extremely careful if wintry weather hits the area.

"As far as alternative means of heating, be very careful with that," noted Lt. Jim Logan, Office of Emergency Management.

But some people say the best method is to simply stay inside

Kenya Smith said, "Well if it's the possibility of snow and ice, then I'll probably stay in the house."

Road crews are on standby all weekend to make sure you stay safe.
