Ole Miss lands top quarterback commit for 2016

OXFORD, MS (WMC) - Five-star quarterback Shea Patterson from Louisiana committed to Ole Miss on Tuesday. Patterson is a 6-foot-2, 191 pound dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2016.

Hugh Freeze continues to show his skill at landing top prospects, as this is the fourth five-star recruit Freeze has attracted to Oxford. The first three, WR Laquon Treadwell, OL Laremy Tunsil, and DT Robert Nkemdiche have turned into top players for the Rebels.

Patterson led his high school, Calvary Baptist to two consecutive state championships. Last season, his team beat New Iberia, led by 2015 Ole Miss quarterback recruit Jason Pellerin.

The Rebels are a team in flux behind center as three-year starter Bo Wallace graduates after three up-and-down, yet overall successful seasons in Oxford.

Patterson is ranked as the third overall player in the country by recruiting service

, and 28th overall by ESPN recruiting.
