MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Much of the Mid-South is under a wind chill advisory until noon on Thursday. Wind chills are expected to fall into the single digits and come close to 0 degrees.
According to WMC Action News 5 Meteorologist Ron Childers, actual temperatures will range between five and 12 degrees overnight and early Thursday morning.
Though the sun will shine Thursday, temperatures will only reach the mid-twenties. Thursday night, a winter storm watch will go into effect for much of the Mid-South.
Ron Childers says the system will likely bring a mix of precipitation through the area throughout the day Friday before changing to rain Friday night.
Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are all possible Friday. There could be some accumulation of snow and ice throughout the day, but once temperatures warm up at the end of the day, any snow and ice will melt.
WMC Action News 5's team of meteorologists is monitoring these chances for severe weather closely. Tune in to WMC Action News 5 at 4:30 Thursday morning before you head out into the cold.
