MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Editorial by WMC Action News 5 General Manager Tracey Rogers:
It seems everyone has a story about the building known as Sears Crosstown.
The majestic old building stands tall at the corner of Autumn and North Watkins in Memphis. For years, it was the place to be. As you know, the building has been vacant now for a long time.
But that's about to change.
On February 21, 88 years to the day of its initial groundbreaking in 1927, another groundbreaking will take place on the very spot for the Crosstown Development. The building is not being torn down. It's getting a new name, new branding and a new look.
The refurbished building will house some of our greatest treasures including part of St Jude, the Church Health Center, and A Step Ahead Foundation.
If you want to be a part of this incredible celebration, go to Facebook, like my page, A Better Mid-South and find all the details there.
I'm so proud of our community for finding a way to save Crosstown and turn it into a beautiful thing — something we can all be proud of.
The rebirth of Crosstown will make this A Better Mid-South.
