MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police say a man was brutally beaten in an attempted robbery while he was walking home from work Wednesday night.
Antonio Moore, 25, sat down with WMC Action News 5 just one day after the attack.
Moore says he was walking home on North Watkins Street when he was knocked unconscious. He says he does not remember much, but woke up in the hospital with bruises.
"Got hit in the face one or two times," said Moore.
Moore's eyes are swollen almost shut, and he was forced to get stitches.
"I'm just happy he didn't pull the trigger," says Moore.
According to the police report, the suspect had a gun and asked Moore for money. The attack reportedly happened when Moore told the robber he did not have any money.
"I'm just thankful to have my eye, because I could have lost my eye," Moore added.
Moore didn't get a good look at the robber, but even if police do not catch this bad guy, he believes a higher power will serve his justice.
"God don't like wrong things, and he will catch up to you sooner or later," said Moore.
