MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A domestic situation in Orange Mound almost turned deadly after police say a man attempted to set his ex-girlfriend's house on fire.

Memphis police responded to the 1100 block of Keating Street on Thursday night, after reports of gasoline being poured on a three-year-old.

After arriving, officials learned that the man in question reportedly poured lighter fluid inside the home when the woman asked him to leave.

"My baby was sleeping on the couch ... and he said 'okay,' and he started pouring up side the house and it was all on the door, my hands," said the victim. "I can't really take it and I don't want him here no more."

The victim, who is pregnant, was able to escape safely with her son to a nearby church.

WMC Action News 5 crew on the scene saw police place the suspect inside of the car, but no further details are available at this time.
