CORDOVA, TN (WMC) - A water main break near Big Orange Road and Macon Road gushed water more than 15 feet into the air near Vantage Point Golf Center on Friday morning.
"It looked like a geyser," said Roto Rooter manager Maggie Cooley. "It was huge."
National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Mid-South around 6 a.m.
As temperatures dipped into the 20s, the spout spilled onto the street.
Memphis Light, Gas, and Water crews shut down both east and westbound traffic on Macon Road and worked for more than one hour to get the water shut off.
About 30 residents in the area were without water in Cordova as a result of the water main break.
It took MLGW more than five hours to make the repairs.
On a much smaller scale, to avoid busted water pipes in your home, experts suggest keeping your pipes covered in freezing temperatures.
