TOP 5: Wonderful week to live in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Despite the cold temperatures and icy roads, it's been a wonderful week to live in Memphis.

Snow day

The sleet and wintry weather wasn't enough to keep children, and a WMC Action News 5 meteorologist, from having a little fun.

Meteorologist Spencer Denton went sledding down a truck delivery ramp with some youngsters on Monday.

"I'm too old for this," he said. "I haven't done that in years."

Not a bad way to spend a snow day!

Inside look

Bass Pro Shops took us inside to provide an updated look at its progress. The swamp, the bowling alley, and luxurious governor's suite are coming along nicely.

Bass Pro Shops is scheduled to open in the Memphis Pyramid in May.

Loving the cold

While most Mid-Southerners aren't used to the frigid temperatures, the Memphis Zoo's pandas can't get enough. You could call it "pandamonium."

Ya Ya and Le Le are huge fans of the cold temps.

Going national

Who doesn't love Gus's Fried Chicken? There is no doubt that it's the best around... and soon, the nation will get a taste now that the fried chicken chain announced it is taking its' recipes nationwide.

Dancing for our Stars

The fundraising effort is underway for the "Dancing for our Stars" event benefiting The Baddour Center in Senatobia, MS. WMC Action News 5's Joe Birch and Kendall Kirkham are hard at work raising money and learning some moves for the event, which will take place Feb. 26.
