MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Association President Mike Williams announced that he will run to be the Memphis mayor in 2015. Williams made his announcement Friday night on Facebook.
Williams says he wants to show current leadership that residents are united in their desire to make the government more accountable by making services more transparent.
"Together we will shout out to all citizens of Memphis that our moment is here and it is time to clean house at City Hall by utilizing our power of the vote!" Williams said in his written Facebook statement.
Williams has led MPA since 2011 and has been a vocal critic of city cuts to police benefits.
