MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - With snow and ice from the past week now melting, and rain pouring from the skies on Saturday, there is a potential for flooding. A flash flood warning is in effect for most of the Mid-South.
Shelby County Office of Preparedness is monitoring local river and creek gauges closely, but despite the warning, say the county is actually at a low-risk in the coming days.
"Most of these are not even going to make it to the halfway point of flood stage for each one of these areas, each one of these gauges, and they're located throughout the county," explained Dale Lane of the Shelby County Office of Preparedness.
Fortunately, officials aren't expecting anything like the flash flooding in Frayser in September 2014 from this storm.
