Wintry weather causes slick roads; several schools cancel classes

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Mid-South was hit with more wintry weather Sunday evening. Some roads are slick and more than 5,000 North Mississippi homes and businesses lost power for several hours Monday morning.

Power in DeSoto County, around Horn Lake, went out around 1 a.m. According to Entergy's website, the majority of the power was restored by 5:30 a.m.

Schools are closed across the Mid-South, including Shelby County Schools, all six municipal school districts, and the Achievement School District. DeSoto County Schools are having class Monday, but they ended up dismissing early. Click here for the latest school and business closings.
