MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis grandmother and a man are dead after an apparent murder-suicide.
Police were called to the scene in the 200 block of West Frank Avenue on Monday night, not far from Martin Luther King Riverside Park.
Neighbor Travis Cunningham says the home is typically quiet.
"No trouble or anything," said Cunningham. "No kids trouble or nothing like that."
Family members say the woman found dead by police is 83-year-old grandmother Thelma Maclin. Police say it appears the man shot Maclin, then turned the gun on himself.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Police have not released his name.
"That's messed up, wasn't expecting to hear something like that today," said Cunningham.
Many in the neighborhood say Maclin was sweet, caring, and did what she could to keep the peace.
Cunningham recalled, "She's not a person you hear anything bad about."
