Dyersburg police officer accused of stealing to pay her electric bill

DYERSBURG, TN (WMC) - Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents charged a Dyersburg police officer with theft after an investigation that began on Feb. 10.

According to TBI, Cara Elizabeth Johnson-Peckenpaugh stole money from a Union City couple's checking account and used the money to pay her own electric bill.

The 37-year-old Dyersburg investigator was booked into Obion County Jail, then released on her own recognizance. She was suspended without pay from Dyersburg Police Department pending an administrative hearing.
