SHELBY COUNTY, TN (WMC) - A winter storm warning took effect for all of Northern Mississippi Wednesday at 6 a.m. and continues until midnight.

A winter weather advisory will go into effect for counties along the I-40 corridor for the same time period.

Memphis and Shelby County are both included in this advisory.

A few schools are already closed on Wednesday, including Oxford City Schools. Click here for the latest closing list.

WMC Action News 5 Meteorologist Ron Childers expects the system will start impacting areas west of Memphis along and south of I-40 by late morning and continue throughout the day.

Childers expects a mix of rain and snow, and he says up to an inch of accumulation is possible along I-40 south into southern and eastern Arkansas and parts of North Mississippi.

No significant accumulation of snow is expected in Memphis, but the system could change course and thus change Memphis' outlook.
