MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A 28-year-old Memphis man was arrested and charged with assaulting his 93-year-old girlfriend.

A police report says Thomas Standley and the victim live together at a house in the 3900 block of Brennan Drive and they are in a relationship. However the victim tells us that's not entirely true.

"I'm 93 and he's 28. That doesn't go together," she told WMC Action News 5. "He was staying with me and working full time. He fed me my meals and my medicine."

The woman's daughter, who lives in the duplex next door, told police she heard her mother screaming, "Let go of me, you're hurting me."

"He just grabbed her neck, and he was violent," Patricia Haynes said.

The affidavit says when Haynes went to check on her mother, Standley became angry and pushed her out the door. Haynes said she could still hear her mother yelling for Standley to leave her alone.

Police say Standley choked the 93-year-old woman, grabbed her arms, squeezed them, and shook her.

The attack happened after the woman refused to take her medicine. Other court records suggest this is not the first time Standley has hurt the woman he's supposed to be looking after.

Some may call it a strange relationship, but the victim wants to make one thing clear.

"It was no love, no sex, no nothing. It was just work."

Standley is charged with domestic assault. He's due in court Thursday.
