Several guns stolen from Hickory Hill pawn shop

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police are searching for the robbers involved in a heist at the Big Daddy Pawn Shop in Hickory Hill.

Yellow crime scene tape and flashing police lights could be seen in the parking lot of the pawn shop Thursday morning. Tamekya Dordies lives nearby and passes the business everyday.

"I saw all the police cars and it came through my phone that somebody had kidnapped and robbed the owner of Big Daddy Pawn Shop," said Dordies.

The owner told police that while he was at home, he was approached by a man who forced him into his truck. He said he was told to drive to the pawn shop where he let the robber inside.

After stealing several guns, the robber drove away in the pawn shop owner's black F-150 truck.

"They can be in the hands of the wrong person," added Dordies. "They need to find where they are and get them and we already have a lot of kids killing each other and people killing each other And with guns on the streets, anything can happen."

Police later found the truck at a Texaco at Winchester Road and Emerald Street. A man who fit the robber's description was found walking in the area. He was identified as Charlton Beasley

Beasley is charged with aggravated robbery, carjacking, using a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and especially aggravated kidnapping.

All the stolen weapons were found at a house in the 3400 block of Rosecreek Cove, according to police.

The owner of the pawn shop was not hurt. Police say they've received 191 calls from the pawn shop in the past five years.
