MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police turned to WMC Action News 5 in hopes of sparking new interest in a cold case involving a hit-and-run driver who dragged a man to his death in Midtown.
Tony Glen Campbell, 47, had a criminal past and was in and out of jail for much of his life; which ended April 18 2014 at Jefferson Avenue and N. Claybrook Street.
Mohammed Suhail owns a corner store where Campbell was a frequent customer.
"Yeah, I see him many times," said Suhail. "I heard he got hit by a car."
Despite his history, Suhail believes Campbell did not deserve such a violent death.
"Well, it was wrong," said Suhail.
On Thursday, the Memphis Police Department asked the media to publicize the case again in hopes of receiving new information on the driver. They believe the vehicle involved was possibly a silver four-door Ford Freestyle. They believe the driver was possibly in his 40s with blond, curly hair.
Based on his alleged actions at this intersection, police say the driver could be a continued threat to the public.
"I hope anybody that kills somebody, they find him," added Suhail. "No matter who."
If you have any information that could help police with their investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
