FRAYSER, TN (WMC) - Kids are celebrating Dr. Seuss' 111th birthday, as well as National Read Across America Day, March 2.

Dr. Seuss would have been 111-years-old on Monday. Schools and libraries across the country are holding events to celebrate and encourage people to read.

WMC Action News 5's Jerica Phillips stopped by Denver Elementary School in Frayser to read to a class of kindergarten students, who were excited to hear her read "There's a Wocket in my Pocket."

Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, wrote and illustrated 44 books during his lifetime.
