JaMychal Green signs 3-year deal with Memphis Grizzlies
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -
JaMychal Green signed a 3-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Green's agent, Michael Hodges.
The 24-year-old Green is a 6-foot-8, 230 pound power forward out of the University of Alabama. Green went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft and spent the past two years shuttling between Europe and the D-League.
Green had his best year this season in the D-League, earning an All-Star nod after averaging 23 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game for the Austin Toros. Green also played in four games for the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 8 points in 25 minutes.
Green played in four games for the Memphis Grizzlies under two 10-day contracts, contributing 8 points in 15 total minutes.
His contract is fully guaranteed through the rest of 2015, earning him $137,279, according to salary service Spotrac.com. Green has a partial minimum guarantee for the next two seasons, equaling nearly $1.8 million. The total would come out to 3 years/$1.96 million if all three years were to be fully guaranteed. If Green is still with the Grizzlies in 2017-18, the team can give him a qualifying offer for $1.3 million.
His competition at the backup power forward spot are rookie Jarnell Stokes and veteran Jon Leuer. Leuer's contract can be guaranteed by June 30, 2015. Stokes is guaranteed for 2015, but not for 2016.
