MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Several schools in Shelby County are facing consolidation and the community has the chance to have its voice heard on the issue Tuesday.

Parents will have another opportunity to speak directly to Shelby County Schools leaders who promised they would not make any decisions about consolidation without hearing from the community.

Two SCS schools are being considered for consolidation. South Side Middle School would be shut down and the students would be rezoned to Riverview Middle.

Lincoln Elementary would also be closed and students would be sent to A.B. Hill Elementary. Both schools would become I-Zone schools, which target those performing at the bottom of state rankings.

Parents have been passionate about this consolidation at previous community meetings, even protesting outside South Side Middle School a few weeks ago against the zoning. They say school officials should work harder to fix the school's problems rather than consolidate.

The meeting at A.B. Hill starts at 5:30 p.m., Riverview Middle's meeting begins at 7 p.m. Both community meetings happen Tuesday.
