MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One group is taking a proactive step to give kids something positive to do on weekends.
HipHop FamJam Vol. 1 at Crosstown Arts brought recording artists together with kids to participate in music, art and fun in a safe environment.
The event happened February 28, 2015. It cost $5 for anyone over the age of 12.
Organizers brought art supplies for kids, and the Brooks Museum donated masks for kids to decorate. Families could also enjoy the music by dancing or stepping up to the microphone themselves.
Hip hop artists that don't use vulgar themes came to perform for families. There was also coloring materials and plenty of other fun events for children of all ages to enjoy.
There was a fun vibe and a family vibe; things that we might think do not go together actually did, in a way that kept young and old entertained.
A group called Artist Tree Entertainment organized the event. You can find out more about
