MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Vittoria Rodgers' father, Gordon, has been buried at the Magnolia Cemetery for almost 15 years. When she went to lay flowers on her father's grave, she was shocked to find another headstone on top of the one marking her father's grave.

"This man's headstone was sitting on top of my dad's grave, his headstone," said Rodgers.

Her father's headstone has dirt caked all over it. Rodgers says she had to dig through grass and mud to even see his name.

"Is this man buried on top of my daddy?" Rodgers wondered.

The town of Coldwater, Mississippi maintains the cemetery, but Rodgers says the city is ignoring her request for answers.

Mayor Vernon Jackson couldn't remember whether he talked to Rodgers, but says a man named Kenny Stevens is in charge of the cemetery. Rodgers says Stevens never showed up for a meeting she had scheduled with him.

"I don't know whether Kenny showed up or not," said Jackson. "I haven't talked to Kenny since last week."

Rodgers says it's infuriating that the city doesn't have answers in her fight for her father, who is a Korean War veteran.

"I was a daddy's girl, you know," said Rodgers. "I loved my dad, and he's been gone for 17 years, but it doesn't hurt any less."

Mayor Jackson claimed another company is in charge of headstones, but promised to dig deeper in search of answers.

"It's become a concern, and a concern of the town," said Jackson. "We're doing everything that we can."

Meanwhile, Rodgers isn't going to be satisfied until she gets answers.

"I want to know why this happened," she commented. "I want it fixed."
