MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

From the view of Chopper 5, Memphis looked like a winter wonderland on Thursday.

From snow-covered skyscrapers to doughnut filled parking lots, WMC Action News 5's Sasha Jones saw first hand the joys and dangers of winter weather.

Many of the roadways were still covered in a snowy slush mixture by mid-afternoon, forcing many drivers to take it slow.

Interstate entrance and exit ramps may have been the slickest. Sasha noticed a police officer helping a driver after sliding off of I-240 eastbound near Hollywood.

But sliding wasn't necessarily a bad thing for everyone.

When Chopper 5 flew over downtown Memphis, the crew saw dozens of people taking to their sleds on Beale Street Landing. Others resorted to other measures to have fun, such as doing donuts in the empty parking lots at the Mid-South Fairgrounds.

However, the most spectacular view came towards the end of helicopter tour.

When Chopper 5 flew over Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium they saw 100 yards covered in snow, an unfamiliar sight for most Memphians.

So a word of caution, have fun, but take it slow. For a look at how residents enjoyed their day, click here
