MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

It's an all too familiar scene: cars spun out, sitting in the median. On Sam Cooper eastbound, Chris Charns says the person in front of his car slammed on their breaks.

When he tried to stop, Charns says he just kept sliding.

"I just hit the ice and tried to move out the way and went off to the median," said Charns.

Wintry weather has left many roadways across Memphis with patches of unmelted ice and snow including Shleby Drive near Tchulahoma, Sam Cooper and East Parkway; all spots giving drivers the blues. With the threat of refreezing during the night, Memphians are faced with another day of potentially dangerous road conditions.

Corey Dupree says he has learned a valuable lesson battling the road conditions this winter.

"Trying to leave my parking lot I spun out just a little," said Dupree. "I drive probably 20 miles, mph less than I normally do."

Many of the interstates are clear, but it's side streets that seem to have the most ice patches. A word of caution to all drivers: Take it slow.
