MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

It's not ice patches or melting ice causing trouble for drivers; it's potholes people are now dodging on the roads.

Two days can make a huge difference. As the snow melts, the potholes begin to pop up.

A viewer contacted WMC Action News 5 after he blew out his tire going through a giant pothole off of Quince Road, and WMC found dozens more in a one-mile stretch.

Now, the Public Works Department announced they will be working overtime on Sunday to fill potholes.

"You watch as well as you can because they're on you before you know it," said Fred Day. "It's just there all of a sudden in places that they normally aren't. Next thing you know, there's a pothole."

Crews will work to fill in reported potholes, and drivers are urged to call 311 to report locations. Officials say the overtime strategy was in place before the weather hit, and they will continue to use weekends over the next 30 days or until roads return to normal.
