MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Gunfire erupted in the 900 block of North Mendenhall Road on Sunday morning, sending one man to the hospital.

“I just got on my bike, and I came to see what was going on. Basically there was a shooting here, and I was trying to ask the police what happened but they would not tell me” said Billy Bosi.

There were two crime scenes: one at a house on Macon Road, and another at a house about 50 yards away on Mendenhall Road. Officers and paramedics on the scene on Mendenhall were seen helping a victim with a gunshot wound, who was later taken to the hospital.

A neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous said he saw a man with a bullet hole in his leg around 9 a.m.

Police say they are getting conflicting information as to what actually happened. At one point during the investigation, officers surrounded the house on Macon Road after the victim told them the suspect may be inside.

Bosi says the area has seen an increase in drug dealing and other crimes, and it's time for it to stop.

"I just wish that people would just live good together and not kill each other and just not hurt each other,” added Bosi.

If you have any information that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
