The fluctuating temperatures could have an impact on your tire pressure, and if you don't check them before you hit the roads, it could end up being an expensive and dangerous oversight.

Before you get behind the wheel, check to make sure your tires are properly inflated. If you have a light that turns on to alert you to low tire pressure, don't ignore it.

In the event that your tire does blow out, do you know what to do? They key is to have a quick reaction, stay calm, and do everything you can to prevent a more serious crash.

"You should never slam on the brake. We want to always avoid that. Any time you slam on the brake, you're going to diminish control over the vehicle," said driver education specialist Connie Sessoms.

Instead of slamming on the brake, take your foot off of the gas and let your speed naturally drop. Focus on maintaining full control of your car.

The bottom line? Be proactive and make sure your tires are good to go before you hit the road. And in the worst case scenario, stay calm and stay in control.
