A Better Mid-South: FAFSA

Editorial by WMC Action News 5 General Manager Tracey Rogers:

A new program called Tennessee Promise is aimed at providing free community college to Tennessee teenagers. But, some of these students are missing out because they have not filled out their FAFSA forms.

Are you kidding me? If you come from a low-income family, possibly the first ever family member to go to college, how would you even know you needed to fill out this form?

It seems to me there are some school guidance counselors who are not doing their jobs.

Our young people need to be educated so they can compete in a global economy and not end up in the wrong activities and become criminals instead of productive citizens.

What a shame that some of these students could get left behind over a form.

If the school counselor doesn't do it, how about you? Help a high school student fill out their FAFSA form.

Doing all we can to get these students into college will make this A Better Mid-South.
