Memphis Tigers fall to Temple, 80-75

(WMC) -

It was no Cinderella story for the Memphis Tigers, who fell in their first game of the AAC tournament, 80-75.

"You know, all you can ask for is a chance to have a shot to win the game at the end and in that last minute, we had a chance. And obviously, it didn't go our way," said Tigers coach Josh Pastner.

The effort was there, but in the end, the shots were not.

"We never quit, we try to give our best. Down 20, up 20, we just try to come out with the win," said Tigers guard Trahson Burrell, who led with 16 points. "Do everything possible we can do to try and get the win at the end of the day."

Memphis will await Selection Sunday, not for the NCAA tournament, but the NIT. They say they want keep on playing.
