MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis fire and police crews responded to a crash involving a MATA bus and Shelby County Sheriff's Office vehicle Friday evening.

MATA officials say the SCSO vehicle hydroplaned, hitting the bus.

The sheriff's department released a statement saying:

"Two of our vehicles were transporting and escorting a prisoner when one of them hit a pothole and hydroplaned causing officer to lose control of the vehicle striking a MATA bus."

The bus driver suffered a hip injury, and an ambulance was called to the scene. No passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash.

Some time before 10 p.m., crews responded to another crash on westbound I-40 at Sycamore View. No details are available on what caused the wreck, or if there are any injuries.
