MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The search is on for a man who is said to have kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl on Monday, Feb. 9.

Police say he held her captive for three days in the 2700 block of Tug Boat Lane, just outside of Lakeland.

When officers arrived on the scene, the previously-missing 17-year-old girl who told officers she had been kidnapped on Feb. 6, taken to a man's home on Canada Road, and sexually assaulted for three days until she escaped.

Residents on Tug Boat Lane are surprised to hear of such a thing happening in their neighborhood.

"It's very shocking to have it around where I stay," said neighbor Teddy Keys, who has a 6-year-old daughter. "It definitely gets me to the point where my protection level goes up to a different level ... A whole different level, trying to protect my daughter."

Police have not made an arrest in this case, but did release a composite sketch of the suspect based on the victim's description. The sketch shows a man with a mustache, brown eyes, and dark hair. Police are asking neighbors to share the sketch in an effort to help find the suspect.

"I have never seen him, but there be some fishy looking people walking around," said a neighbor named Rico.

If you recognize the person in the sketch, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274), text 'AWARD' to 274637 or visit www.528cash.org.
