What was supposed to be a fun night with friends at a local bar ended with one Mid-South woman in the hospital and another in police custody.

"I've never endured something like this in my life," said Cynthia Mason Hutchinson, who has cuts all over her body after she says her friend attacked her on March 8 at Mug's Pub on Raleigh-LaGrange Road.

According to a police report, 45-year-old Tracey Carsley repeatedly kicked Hutchinson in her head and upper body after pushing her to the ground. Hutchinson's hospital records show that her injuries are consistent with being kicked with a steel-toed boot.

"All I could think of is, I feel blood going down my back, and if she kicks me one more time, she was going to end up killing me," Hutchinson said, describing the attack.

Hutchinson says she has known her friend, Carsley, for a few years.

"We've never had a run-in with each other," she added.

In a police report, a witness says that Hutchinson walked up to Carsley and poked her in the shoulder. Carsley then hit her, knocked her to the ground, and kicked her repeatedly after she fell.

Police say both women had been drinking.

"She just repeatedly kept stomping me down, making blows to my head and throughout the remainder of my body," Hutchinson recalled.

Shelby County sheriff's deputies arrested Carsley on Sunday. She is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

By phone, Carsley denied the allegations.

"That's not true," said Carsley. "When it goes to court, the truth will come out."

However, Hutchinson is not convinced and is hoping for answers.

She added, "I want justice."
