Cowboys sign defensive end Hardy

The Dallas Cowboys announced they have signed former Ole Miss and Briarcrest defensive end Greg Hardy to an incentive-heavy one-year deal.

Hardy can make up to $13.1 million if he plays in every game and hits his workout bonus. Hardy's base salary is $725,000 with more than $9 million tied up in per-game bonuses. Hardy made $13.1 million last season with the Carolina Panthers because of a franchise tag, despite playing in only one game while dealing with a domestic violence trial.

Charges were later dropped, but Hardy is still on the NFL commissioner's exempt list, and is subject to a potential suspension for the 2015 season. When he played, he was very successful, recording 15 sacks in 2013 and 11 sacks in 2012.
