MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man shot three times in February during a robbery attempt is worse off now according to his family.

"I can be in bed and he's on the other side of the house, and I can hear him moaning," said Robert Harmon's aunt, Patricia Toutio.

She is now Harmon's caregiver after years of him watching over her.

"He used to go to the store for me and all that," said Toutio. "And now I'm having to pay folks to take me."

Harmon was shot about 100 yards from the Frayser home he and his aunt share.  He was ambushed while walking back from a convenience store.

He was well enough to speak with WMC Action News 5 the very next day.

"There's some people who don't want to transform to what's proper and, unfortunately, I had to take the wrath of it," said Harmon at the time.

"Things happen, but this never should have happened," said Toutio.

Harmon's aunt said things have since taken a turn for the worse as doctors try and determine when or if to remove the bullets that remain in his body.

"Sometimes if the surgery is going to kill you itself, they're not going to do it," said Toutio.

Toutio said they're trying to get by on her social security, but are both flat broke. WMC Action News 5's Jason Miles asked what they needed now.

"A miracle," said Toutio.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
