MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police released surveillance photos that show the suspect in a Wednesday night armed robbery at a gas station.

This happened around 11:30 p.m. at the Exxon on Austin Peay Highway.

Police say a man came into the gas station and picked up a can of beer and chips. He didn't have his ID on him and told the clerk he was going outside to get it.

When he came back into the business, he pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

The man left the business on foot.

The suspect is described as standing around 6'2,” 180 pounds, having a beard, wearing a black cap, dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, camouflage pants with a pink spot on the right rear pocket, and dark shoes.
