MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -
The road to Rio and the 2016 Olympic Games will start right here in Memphis for the USA Women's Boxing Team.
The Bluff City will host the USA Olympic Boxing Trials in October at the Cook Convention Center.
USA Boxing is teaming with Memphis based Prize Fight Boxing to bring the event here.
Twenty-four of the top women's amateur pugilists will vie to wear the red, white and blue in the Olympics, including defending Gold Medalist Claressa Shields, who won the gold medal as a 17 year old at London in 2012.
The final qualifying tournament for the U.S. Men's Olympic trials will be going on at the same time of the women's finals here in Memphis.
Action runs October 25 - 31.
