MEMPHIS, TN (AP) -

A Memphis neighborhood filled with retirees is now at the center of a police investigation after officers say someone kidnapped a 23-year-old on a first date.

Neighbors say they never expected anything like this.

"No we haven't had anything like this . Like I said this is the first that I heard," said Rogers Vincent, a resident in the area.

Police say the woman was found in the 2300 block of Locust Bend Road, just after 2:30 Thursday morning.

Investigators say the victim sent a text to her mother, and told her she had been taken.

"Like any parent I would be concerned , concerned for her as well," said Vincent.

After police found the woman, they took her to Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital in non-critical condition.

Many neighbors hope justice will be served in this case.

"You hope that she's OK, you never want something like that to happen to anyone. But we live in a society that unfortunately that's what happens sometimes," said resident David Little.

Memphis police have not released the name of the victim or a suspect description.
