MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The 2015 Faith in Action Memphis Cleanup still needs volunteers. With a goal of 15,000 volunteers, only about 11,000 people have registered so far.

The 2014 cleanup engaged more than 12,000 volunteers, and also earned the designation of being the largest faith-based cleanup in Tennessee.

“When we collaborate to take responsibility for our surroundings, we can do remarkable things," said Wharton. "We all know it takes a village, and that's why, for the second year in a row, Memphis City Beautiful will coordinate these projects, engaging volunteers from churches, schools, non-profits and businesses.”

The steering committee includes leaders from organizations and churches across the Mid-South including Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church, Leadership Memphis, Baptist Memorial Hospital and Hope Church.

The 2015 Faith in Action Memphis Cleanup will take place April 18 - 26 in various locations throughout the city. No experience is necessary, and Memphis City Beautiful will provide resources to participating groups and organizations.
