MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Families who were burned out of their homes at the Bella Vista Apartments need your help to get back on their feet.

A fire left over $12,000 in damages at the complex Wednesday morning. Memphis Fire Department investigators say food left on the stove ignited the blaze.

Nonprofit organization Agape is working to assist these families and is asking for donations to help families impacted by the fire. A total of six families were affected, and one family lost everything.

The mother of the family is recovering Friday morning after she was hospitalized for inhaling too much smoke.

This is the second fire in the last two months at the Bella Vista apartment complex. WMC Chopper 5 was over the first fire that happened in January.

Donations are needed to help the most recent fire victims include clothing, household furniture, kitchen items, or monetary donations.
