Hair Everywhere does a great deal of advertising on Instagram, and has customers in 19 states, plus Canada.
However, they have reportedly received 131 complaints in the past three years and — the Better Business Bureau gives the company an "F" rating.
Customer Tahira Johnson says she was displeased with the service she received. Johnson ordered hair from the Maryland-based company in November. She says she was supposed to receive her order within 10 days, but weeks went by.
"Instantly a red flag came up for me. My family member was very upset because we put out a lot of money," said Johnson. "It was probably about $400 between the two of us."
According to officials with the BBB, Johnson was experiencing the same issues as hundreds of others.
"Since 2012, we have not been able to ascertain who owns the company, company background, business start date," said Angie Barnett of the BBB.
Barnett says customers complain about getting the wrong hair, bad quality hair, no hair, no money back and no response.
A representative named Dave who handles customer complaints at Hair Everywhere issued a statement saying: "We have serviced over 39,000 customers this year alone. As of last night, we responded to all complaints. There was a mis-communication between company ownership and the BBB."
Johnson says she never heard from the company, but the BBB helped her get her money back.
"I hope more people speak up about this situation and maybe if we can get more people to talk about it, then maybe we can get something to happen," said Johnson. "I hope that others do the research, and they see that this is not a trustworthy company."
