MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Mid-South family is pleading for answers and peace after a shooting left a young man dead, face down in a vacant lot.

On Saturday, the family came together at a candlelight vigil demanding answers.

"I feel so sad inside and lost and I just wish they find the people that did this to him," said Kimmons' aunt, Kurious Matthews. "Whoever did this could you all please, please give us some answers, you don't have to come to us, go downtown and tell the people who did this to him."

Police say they found Kimmons lying face down on Wilson Road in Whitehaven.

No one has been charged, and now, Alonzo Harris now without his best friend of more than 20 years

"It just kills me inside to know that someone could be so cold to take someone I loved dearly away from all of us so soon," said Harris. "I looked at him more than a friend but also as a brother and it hurts me deeply."

Family and friends admit that Kimmons wasn't perfect, but they want the person or people behind this brutal act to come forward.

"He was getting his life together, within the life we all make choices," said a friend of Kimmons.

Witnesses say a white SUV was last seen leaving the scene of this shooting. If you know anything, call Memphis police at (901) 528-CASH.
