MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Tickets for the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home are on sale now.

By reserving a ticket, you could win a brand new home. But even more importantly, it will make a difference for thousands of children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or even food. But in order to provide free treatment and support for families, it takes support from people like you. There is no time to wait.

"I wish people knew all the wonders that it does, because it saved my life," Adam Cruthirds, 17, said.

Adam's life changed forever last July when he started having pain in his hands.

"They told me, 'We're afraid you have leukemia.' I was like, 'What's leukemia?' And they said, 'It's cancer.' I said, 'OK, I'm not afraid. Let's just do this.'"

Adam, who is from Memphis, started a 2 1/2 year chemotherapy plan, and he will have to continue with years of checkups.

"He won't hear the word 'cure' until he's 26," Adam's mom, Connie Cruthirds, said.

Complications drove Adam's medical costs to $3 million. Thanks to St. Jude, the Cruthirds will never even see a bill.

Even so, Adam's mom says St. Jude did more than just help them financially.

"A nurse that hangs a bag of chemo...she knows what it's like going in his body," Connie explained. "She would hang it, a little tear would come down, she would tap my son and walk out. That's St. Jude all the time."

Adam is one of the older patients at St. Jude. He can't fit inside the little red wagon, in which many patients get to ride around campus.

At a hospital where children come from all over the world, Adam admits being local, and a teen, is tough.

"You see your friends out driving around doing whatever they want, risking their lives, and I know how much life means to me and I don't want to lose it," Adam said.

But even on the bad days, he says he still has so much to be thankful for.

"I've gotten mentally stronger knowing it's going to be over. I just have to do it. I do whatever my doctor tells me to do, because he knows the quickest way to expedite this."

On average, 7,800 patients visit the hospital each year, and they need your support.

Tickets went on sale for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway on Tuesday. Call 1-(800)-224-6681 to reserve your ticket. People who reserve their ticket before Friday have a chance to win $2,500 in gas from Circle K.
