A woman is in jail after she attacked a Memphis police officer at the Madison Towers.

Melvin Taylor has called the building his home for the past year. He says the building makes him feel safe.

However, he's not surprised that fellow resident, 64-year-old Porsha Wills, attacked an MPD officer who also works security in the building.

"It's a possibility," said Taylor. "She's real quiet, but she'll go off on you."

Investigators say Wills suffers from bipolar disorder. According to the affidavit, the officer received complaints that Wills was trying to pull a TV and wires off of a wall in a community room. When the officer arrived, she wasn't there anymore, so he went to her private room.

Wills and the officer then got into an argument, and she slammed the door on him, clipping the officer's mouth and knocking out one of his teeth. According to the affidavit, she then attacked the officer.

The officer said he hit her in the face, using minimal force, and put her into handcuffs.

Some residents say Wills went too far.

"If he's securing the place and doing his job, don't attack him," said Madison Towers resident Robert Junior.

The officer wasn't seriously injured. Meanwhile, Taylor says that fighting with officers isn't worth it.

"You're not going to get a trophy or anything or money or anything," Taylor commented. "Nothing is going to come out of it."
